Fall Trends 2013

 FALL TRENDS
By: Drake Evans

As the fall season slowly creeps in, we here at Chic Academy are starting to prepare for the calm and cool season. Here are the top 5 men’s trends for fall 2013.

Statement Scarves: At the very top of the fall trend for men is the statement scarf. Big and bold, these attention getters are at the very top of the must have list.

Colored Chinos: The next trend on our list is the bright chino. These electric hued pants bring a nice pop of color to the fall season. Also, they instantly class up any outfit.

The Leather Jacket: The leather jacket came back with a bang, as we saw last
winter. The leather jacket is still soaring into the 2013 fall trends with a high popularity. The bad boy jacket has become a trend for both male and female.

The Kicks: Going from flip-flops and Sperry’s to the chukka boot and dress shoe. Owning a few pairs of both, these shoes certainly can make your attire                                                 100 times better.

One of the most important things that you have to do first is gather all of your supplies. Here's what you'll need:
--Chains:
You can find these at your local craft store! ***note: if you want to make a body chain be sure to purchase a chain at least 18 inches long.
--Jumprings:
You can also find these at your local craft store, walmart or target . This material is completely optional, depending on your chain!

--Needle nose pliers:
You will need these to open wires.

--Wire cutters:
This is also optional depending on the type of chain than you have.

                                                --DIY Body Jewelry Instructions!
1. Measure how long you want your center chain to go down the center of your head in your part. *make sure its long enough to stay on securly!

2.Using your wire cutters or pliers seperate the chain to make it the length you want.

3.Have a friend measure your side chains where you want them. Play around with simpler designs with one or two draping chains or more complex looks.

4.  Using your pliers again, seperate your chains and jump ring and attach to your center chain by closing the jumpring.

5. Add any charms, jewels or beads you want and ROCK your one of a kind, DIY, made by you, completely personalized and ultra chic head piece.

Make sure you have a reliable friend measure how long you want it on your head!

Try adding cool charms or beads to your pieces.

Try using old broken jewlery you allready have.

                                                             How to wear it!?!

Heres some ideas and tips on how to conquer this trend seamlessly.... just like Nicole Richie does!!
You definently have to wear this with confidence because it is a little different but hey thats how trends start right?! Heres some outfit ideas to go along with your headpiece!!

  • a floaty maxi dress and wedges
  • printed pants plain, colored shell and loafers
  • bohemian  longsleeve mini dress, tall boots, and thigh high socks peeking out
  • high waisted shorts, long comphy printed grandpa cardigan, plain colored shirt
  • leather pants and a neutral sweater
**** Heres another great idea if you think this trend is a little too.... out there for your everyday wardrobe. Try making it a princess or evil which Halloween costume. Pair it with a dramatic black cloak and dress for a darker look or an enchanting princess ensemble.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 review

As all of you know last week was Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week!! Over 300 collections showed this past week in New York, one of the four major fashion weeks over the whole world!! This is where the biggest of designers show their newest creations and where aspiring designers get discovered and hopefully make a name for themselves! Since I was stuck in high school all day in Missouri I had to catch myself up on all of the beautiful gowns, dresses, new cutting edge trends, makeup, street style and whats going to be in style.

I found a great website that shows sideshows from the highlights of fashion week to let you look through your favorite designers quickly. They try to give you the "front row experience" check it out HERE!! Check it out and tell us on our Facebook page your favorites!!

Fashion week isn't only about the glamour either, now a day having a cool runway playlist is just as important of your shoes! The tunes are almost as trendsetting as the clothes! Don't miss out on the new music played at the shows!
