 Rachel Zoe is someone who’s styled the biggest and most influential celebrities of our time, and probably has more fashion connections and accomplishments than alot of the most notable designers. She is a living legend in the fashion world and happens to be an incredable inspiration of mine. When I read this quote, it hit home in many different ways….

When you see someone who’s decked out in all leather you don’t think that that person is bubbly, you think rocker chic. It can go the other way too you see someone in a fun, girly dress you don’t think bad ass. You read into what you think their clothes say about them. Dont try to tell me you don't people watch it's completely normal... and really fun! And no matter what we do, we are making impressions and giving off vibes every second, wether it's confident, trendy, preppy, tough or plain people are watching. So why not present yourself in the best light as humanly possible?!? It’s the way our society works; we put people in stereotypical boxes.

Another view on this quote :one that the fashion community would understand better, is that you never have to explain yourself when it comes to your fashion choices, it's instantanious. 

In middle school-what most of us reluctantly consider an unspeakable era filled with pimples, questionable fashion choices, and awkward situations. I didn’t realize you control how people look at you by what you wear and the the way you look.

Sometime in my sophomore year is when it finally hit me, that if you dress confidently you will feel confident. I believe style isn’t only about how you put clothes together; confidence and the person inside is a big part of it too. After this revelation- if you will- I started to become aware of my fashion choices and trying to steer myself away from a t-shirt and jeans. I realized I don’t have to explain myself anymore and I finally felt that I have found a way to express who i really am and show the world.

One of my favorite go-to looks is a floral shirt with a leather skirt or shorts. It makes people wonder where your coming from and gives a sense of mystery leaving people wanting to know more about you and figure you out. Overall just be yourself and the right people will come to you!

Boho-Chic: Body Chains

Body Chains have spread tremendously from runway shows to the streets! Being able to wear chains laced across your clothing and/or body gives your style a completely new look! Body chains completely can change a bad day to fab day! The chains can completely change the ensemble of your outfit and easily make it bold and daring. In fact, this year, this trend will be our first DIY event of the year! "How to:Diy Body Chain" video coming soon! This style is Trendy, Chic, Fabulous, and Fierce! There are tons of great DIY's on the Internet to make these eclectic pieces, we found a beautiful tutorial here on Sincerely Kinsey or if you like videos more this one is great. You can also ind great hair chain tutorials on I Spy DIY or love Maegan or Style Noted. On Making It With Danielle she shows how to make three different types! Check them out for some inspiration! If your wanting to make your own a really great place to get your chains or charms and don't know where to get your supplies (other than your local craft store) Wander and Hunt is an amazing DIY supply website or check your local thrift store or antique shop for old jewelry.

When I recently asked the girls in Chic Academy for their absolute beauty favorites I got some great responses! Here's some of their responses. Enjoy!

e.l.f liquid eyeliner

Daneisha exclaimed "This is my favorite, inexpensive eyeliner. But I get it this from Target for a 1$"

e.l.f. Studio Matte Lip Color

Yet another e.l.f product!! Alaina said while talking about her must have "This is my absolute favorite lipstick! You can get it at target and its so cheap but it stays on forever. It's a very deep, mate color! $3!!!"

Revlon Colorstay

Jewel said "My most favorite eyeliner ever! Revlon Colorstay. It stays on so long and it does not smudge, if you fall asleep in it, you will not wake up looking like a raccoon! It's perfect because it's not a pencil so you dont have to sharpen it and it doesnt stick and drag across your eyelid, and its not a liquid so it doesnt get messy, it just glides on perfect every time! I love it, and highly recommend it! Walmart $4"

NARS tinted moisturizer

Courtney shared "NARS tinted moisturizer is my favorite!!!!! I love it because I'm not a person that likes to wear make-up or any foundation whatsoever. But I use this moisturizer as a foundation when I do wear make-up, because its very light-weight, it feels like you have nothing on your skin and it gives full coverage like foundation! It's pretty pricey at sephora($32) but I always walk in and get the samples! Lol"

Benefit cosmetics

Alex shared why this entire brand is a big must. "I'd recommend any benefit cosmetics! They are natural and really clean feeling on your skin and stuff! Um this is dandelion blush and its great for paper white skin because it's very light and has a slight sparkle. (Its really hard for people like me who have a hard time getting tan to pick the right blush!)But benefit has tons of these cute little blushes in many colors for any skin tone. watch out if you have the membership thing at sephora (love it-you earn points every time you buy something and get free stuff with the points) I got this product for free with my points!"

First Day Fashion!

School starting is always kind of depressing...... until you remember it's the perfect excuse to get all dressed up and look super cute, go shopping, and make everyone jealous of your adorable outfit! The first day of school is a big deal for everyone but for the girls in Chic Academy it's especially important to show everyone your fashion point of view. Your making first impressions... emphasis on impressing. Everyone puts together an awesome outfit to start out the year and show everyone what they got!
